Good calls on both Ian - the simple fact of the matter is there is so much software out there now, and so many different things developers and non-developers do, we need to "abstract up" so that we can run multiple OSes at a time.

If that sounds painful, complicated, consider the alternative: overloading WinXP with apps to the point you spend 1 week every 6 months having to reformat/reinstall the whole mess...
