Tiny Sneak Peak at HelpSpot v2
If you're in the market for a powerful and user friendly Help Desk solution, please take a look at my company's flagship product HelpSpot.
Part of the new website design will be a HelpSpot blog where I’ll run the beta from, offer sneak peaks, tips, etc. However, I thought it would be fun to show off a version 2 feature which has always been one of our most requested.

It's tiny. It does have it's issues, but still better than the others I've tested even commercial ones which are all IE only.

we were planning to try out fckeditor. ever heard of it?

Yeah, I found it hard to configure though I think it's generally OK. I've already been using tiny in HS for a year and a half in the books area with good results. This will be much more intensive usage though so we'll see how it goes. Looking forward to the beta to see how users do with it.

Ian - great looking sneak peak and good feature to add. Congrats on the ever evolving product. It is a great idea to have a seperate product blog. It gives you a new found sense of freedom because you can dig deep into product features and updates without worry that it alienates regular blog readers who are not product users or feeling like you are always pushing your product.

Yeah, I was never too keen on running a second blog, but with the beta coming up I figure that will give me the motivation to actually publish to it. Should be fun to have a place to get into the nitty gritty details.

So, you are using TinyMCE. My main concern is Safari support - what they have runs only on most recent versions of WebKit. This changes will be shipped with Leopard, but nothing before that.
Do you have a lot of Safari users and do you see a problem in lack of Safari support for the next few months?

Yep, there won't be any Safari support for the wysiwyg. There's nothing that can really be done about it, it's not a tiny issue. None of the wysiwyg software works on Safari. For now it will compensate by putting in br's so just typing still works and will accept HTML if provided, though there's no visual editor.
I've thought about having quicktags for Safari, but it's then another system to test and code and probably not worth it.
My first preference would really be to use Markdown or something like that, but I don't think that would be very well received. Most customers specifically mention a wysiwyg editor in their feature requests.
