I agree with Ryan on this one, there’s way too much emphasis on being a “real” (funded) startup when the smart money with the best chance on a decent return (IMHO) is boot strapping for most web ideas these days.

As much as I enjoy Paul Graham's writing, he is sort of a one trick pony. The only way anyone can make money is the way that *he* made his.
It seems like in his world there are no millionaire laundromat owners.

Very astute observation, starr. But don't be too hard on paul. After all, he can only sell what he's got in stock, and eventually everyone who wants to buy will have bought.
