New HelpSpot Spam Tools Rock

If you're in the market for a powerful and user friendly Help Desk solution, please take a look at my company's flagship product HelpSpot.

The next version of HelpSpot has spam protection for the portal and it’s really doing a great job. Last night the UserScape installation received a pretty big spam attack and caught 59 spams while allowing 0 through.

Nice!

Is this a custom coded algorithm or are you using a 3rd party library?

Nope it's a three step process I describe here:

I can hardly wait for this Ian -- our helpspot installation gets anywhere from 3 to 10 spam posts per day.

Yep it's definitely an issue. It's actually not HelpSpot specific bots, just generic form posters, but a big pain never the less.

Ian

Have been using your beta of the spam filter, and, wanted to let you (and your user) know it works like a charm at detecting spam. The spammers are certainly more persistent now (before, we have 3 to 10 spams a day, and now, we get like 30 or 40 a day), but, your filter has caught (out of 140 total spams) all but one so far. Very nice!

Thanks Anthony. The latest builds are even better than the one you're using and also have a few more settings you can adjust as well. Also as you delete those ones which got through it get more accurate.

99.3% accuracy isn't too shabby though!
