More Proof That Blogs Equal Good Business
If you're in the market for a powerful and user friendly Help Desk solution, please take a look at my company's flagship product HelpSpot.I just heard from my designer tonight that the article I wrote up about the design process for my companies logo has gotten him several logo design gigs already. A little more proof that some of what I talk about here works. Encouraging blogging about your product equals sales. It's that simple.
Mike was enthusiastic to let me show off his work and now that's paying off for him. Do you encourage your clients to blog about you?

Maybe I'm crazy, but... I would think a bigger resource for generating business would be a portfolio! I couldn't seem to find one on his site...

Further proof that all the good designers are too busy to update their portfolio's

Guys, I've got some samples up on my company site (design and portfolio section coming soon) here:
Corporate Identity (several logos):
http://www.makalumedia.com/design/corporate-id.html
Print Design (one project):
http://www.makalumedia.com/design/print-design.html
And there's the samples listed on my own weblog too in the design category:
http://www.rohdesign.com/weblog/archives/cat_design.html
However, Liam is right -- I/we (Makalu) need a defined portfolio in place. However, I would say articles describing how work was done, like Ian's Business Logo post are in a way encapsulated portfolio pieces themselves.
Thanks everyone for the little kick forward — I needed it.

Thanks for the prominent placement on the page! I really like that Pino Fitness logo, great work.

And that's really what I'm getting at. That having a portfolio is certainly one of those things you "supposed" to have, but a personal recommendation is alot more powerful than a static portfolio.

Liam -- point well taken. ![]()
It is being worked on currently for the MakaluMedia, the firm I work for. Meanwhile, there are several projects worked on in the design category of my personal weblog:
http://www.rohdesign.com/weblog/
Still, the interesting point really is that I've recieved 2 solid leads from Ian's article, which I guess serves as about the best portfolio piece on logo design I could think of.

Yeah, perhaps you should be seeking out designers without portfolios!
